Intro to CAD For Jewelry Design Lab
When: Wednesdays 5:45 to 8:45 Nov 5,12,19,26 Dec3,10
Our CAD Design Lab is a hybrid-format course designed to support both emerging and experienced jewelry designers in one dynamic, collaborative environment.
This class offers two complementary tracks that overlap in a shared studio setting:
Beginner Track: Students new to CAD will learn the fundamentals of jewelry modeling, including navigating the design interface, creating basic forms, and developing workflow habits that build confidence and precision. Instruction will emphasize understanding the design tools, file management, and preparing models for 3D printing and casting.
Advanced Track: Experienced designers can use class time to develop their own projects with direct access to expert consultation and troubleshooting. Whether refining complex models, optimizing designs for production, or exploring new software features, advanced students will receive focused support to elevate their skills and efficiency.
With two instructors guiding the lab, students at all levels will benefit from personalized attention:
A Lead Instructor will teach the foundational CAD curriculum for beginners and be available for advanced project consultation.
An Assistant Instructor will provide dedicated guidance for advanced students working independently on custom projects.
This shared learning format creates a collaborative atmosphere where designers can observe a range of workflows and problem-solving approaches, building both technical skill and creative insight.
Prerequisites: None required for beginners; experienced students should have prior CAD experience or completed our Intro to CAD class.
