5 Week Class Fridays
January 30, February 13, 20, 27, and March 6
Materials Fee $35 Due at the first class
Are you ready to add color and light to your jewelry design game or just interested in learning an amazing skill ? Our Exploring Enamel workshop is for you. In this 5 week introductory class you will learn basic metal working skills as you design and create your enamel masterpieces. Come explore this 3000+ year old craft in a safe supportive space with a RISD Graduate as your guide.
Skills: Basic metal knowledge, sawing, flexshaft, soldering if needed.
Week 1 Create key chain/pendant
Class: Show how to make patterns with stencils and sifting, bake in oven. Book examples, demo with projection on screen. Show samples
Homework: Create a design for cloisonne for week 2
Week 2 Create Cloisonne
Class: Demo and work time. Show samples.
Homework: Mood board of enamel
Week 3 Create Cloisonne Finish
Class: Demo how to clean up enamel with diamond bits. Start personal projects
Week 4 Create Personal Project
Class: Demo Pliqué Jour. Work with copper blanks or students can provide their own base and metals.
Week 5 Create Personal Project Finish
Class: Finish enamel projects
